Independent versus Group Travel Hybrid

I've travelled a fair amount in my young life so far and am always watching for deals. One particularly troubling issue I've had is travelling solo. As a woman, I don't always feel sensible when I embark on a trip by myself and group tours seem so impersonal (not to mention pricey with single supplements). Way too late did I discover that a hybrid exists. Imagine not paying single supplements and being able to travel in a small enough group on local transportation, therefore preserving the special feeling one gets from travelling like a local. Not only is it possible, but cheap!

My favorite blogger, Arthur Frommer, tells it best: http://www.frommers.com/blog/?plckController=Blog&plckScript=blogScript&plckElementId=blogDest&plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&plckPostId=Blog%3a3ec3ac40-db8a-4d10-a884-acf9ccad0879Post%3aded6900f-a908-4828-a69f-0fac70585f8b&plckCommentSortOrder=TimeStampAscending
